Argy-Bargy on Valentines at the Seahorse

Have you planned a special Valentine for your loved one? Melt their heart and tickle their tastebuds with a visit to the Seahorse Lounge for Valentine’s Day. You can dine on their outdoor patio or take their impressive Valentine’s specials to go, along with their incredible meats, cheeses, and your favorite wine. I was fortunate enough to try just a
few of the dishes featured on their upcoming Valentine’s Day menu.
To get warmed up, I started with a beautiful glass of the Ponzu Pinot
Noir. Chef Roa prepared a gorgeous Cheese & Charcuterie board
complete with a heart-shaped cheese ball that was topped with
edible flowers, and almost too pretty to eat. The spicy Chorizo was
my favorite, and the fig jam, also available in the store, went
perfectly with the gourmet Italian Goat cheese and fresh Crostini.

Next came the heart-shaped Ravioli, each one filled with either, Lobster, Crab, or Shrimp, and topped with an Asparagus Truffle Cream and Saffron Oil. For non-seafood lovers,
those beautiful ravioli shells are also available in a five

cheese option with an Asparagus/Smoked Bacon Tomato Coulis.

Chef then brought out jumbo sized, perfectly Seared Sea Scallops. They had just the right amount of citrus, Saffron foam, so tender and moist. I can easily say they were some of the best scallops I have ever had the pleasure of biting into.

I finished my delightful tasting with a framable work of art; Pot de Creme encased in a dark chocolate heart. A perfect ending to an incredible meal and sure to leave you and your loved one feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

Originally the location at Pearl St. and Coast Highway was home to Laguna Auto Parts. Owner Michele Reynolds has brought so much style and function to this historic space while keeping its rustic charm. The Pearl St. General Store is full of so many unique, fun items, from glassware to apparel and accessories, as well as
hand-selected, high quality condiments, pasta, and
specialty wines, that make great gifts. You are sure
to find a little something for everyone.

The Seahorse Lounge is a funky Speakeasy built in 1940’s. It is here that you can enjoy a satisfying selection of libations, turntables with lots of vinyl, and a super friendly bartender named Dean. Over the last few years it has been quite the hotspot for locals to meet, drink, dance and socialize, back when folks still did that kinda thing. There are some really cool facts and fun stories about this establishment, available on their website at www.pearlstgeneral.com

Chef Antonia Roa has been creating amazing cuisine for over 30 years He gained some of his experience and knowledge having worked for a number of five star hotels along Orange County’s coast. He incorporates many unique food items found in the General store, right into his Menu. I am so happy he is turning out such great food from this

local little gem. Not only is he super talented and creative, but he is such a nice guy with a warm friendly smile to match. We are fortunate to have him in our neighborhood.
